| Mission | A resilient world free from indignity African Development Association (ADAS) has refocused its work into the ADAS Rescue Mission Africa (RMA) Programme to provide rehabilitation to victims of torture and conflict and to support community resilience in the affected parts of the Lake Chad Basin Countries (Cameroon, Chad, Niger, Nigeria and CAR). We will do this through our two flagship programmes for 2020 to 2023: |

| Clean Cooking Activities | The specific problems that this intervention is intended to solve includes: • 95% of the population use wood or charcoal for cooking • Most people cook on inefficient and dangerous three-stone fires • Three bundles of wood are used each week per household resulting in deforestation • Three stone fires produce a lot of smoke resulting in smoke inhalation • Burns are common Basic Solution Each fuel-efficient cookstove uses only one bundle of wood per week It produce less smoke and the fire in the cookstove is contained and is therefore much safer with less risk of burns The cookstove benefits from being a double burner It is cheap and easy to build Enhanced Solutions Package: |
| Partnership | Partnership and Collaboration Needed We now need technical and funding partners to design, plan and implement the enhanced package of an innovative phased introduction of renewable energy solutions in the Sub Region and to advance the carbon and trees offsetting and reforestation programme. We are already supporting and intend to expand our work in research, advocacy and facilitation of policy processes, strategies and implementation in the area of clean cook stoves, renewable energy and climate change mitigation, adaptation, resilience and other co-benefits. We can build capacities, support efforts to mobilise finance and other resources and facilitate coordination and collaboration among stakeholders and the population in Cameroon and the Lake Chad Basin countries |
